Capturing Summer: Vibrant Kodachrome Colors with My Leica M8

Last week, we all thought summer had arrived with temperatures soaring to a sizzling 30 degrees. It seemed like summer was here to stay, but less than a week later, we’re back to drizzly weather with temperatures below what you’d expect in early July. The city was lively, filled with students who had just finished their exams, locals, and day trippers enjoying a refreshing drink on one of the many terraces. The good news was that there were no busloads of tourists that often turn the city center into an open-air museum. Overall, it was a great time to wander around the city and capture the summer vibe with my Leica M8, an almost 20-year-old camera that had been left untouched for years. Rediscovering photography with that familiar piece of equipment felt like reconnecting with an old friend. It was amazing how much fun it was to capture moments again, dialing in the aperture and shutter speed without any unnecessary buttons. There was no need to worry about ISO settings since anything above 160 resulted in less attractive noise. It was all about composing, focusing, and pushing the shutter button - Ghent, Belgium
