Grandeur of the Grand Place: A Spectacular Urban Ensemble in Brussels

Brussels' stunning Grand Place is one of the world's most unforgettable urban spectacles. The centerpiece is the spired 15th-century City Hall, while each of the historic guildhalls (mostly built between 1697 and 1705) has its own unique charm. The guildhalls are adorned with exquisite baroque gables, opulent gilded statues, and intricate guild symbols. This UNESCO World Heritage site attracts visitors from all corners of the globe, including ourselves. Despite the bars and restaurants being often overcrowded and the cuisine not quite the best Belgium has to offer, we cannot resist indulging in a coffee or beer on a terrace whenever we are in Brussels. While the waiters may not be the most personable, we still appreciate the ambiance of this splendid location – Grand Place, Brussels, Belgium
