Morning Reflections at Castle Square

​Early morning on a rainy day in Warsaw, I went out to take pictures of Castle Square and the Old Town. The day before, it was so crowded with tourists that it was nearly impossible to take decent shots. I was initially disappointed by the rain and the gray sky, but it turned out to be a good thing. I found a couple of puddles offering great reflections. This is one of the first shots I took that morning. A little bit more about Castle Square: Castle Square (Plac Zamkowy) is a historic square in front of the Royal Castle, the former residence of Polish monarchs. The square features Sigismund's Column, erected in 1644 to honor King Sigismund III Vasa, who moved the capital from Krakow to Warsaw. The Royal Castle, reconstructed after its destruction in World War II, stands majestically at one end of the square. The area is surrounded by the colorful townhouses of the UNESCO-protected Old Town.
