Normandy American Cemetery – Colleville-sur-Mer

This is the Normandy American Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer, overlooking Omaha Beach. It’s the largest American military cemetery in Normandy, with more than 9,300 graves, mostly of U.S. soldiers who lost their lives during the Normandy landings and the battles that followed in summer 1944.

The rows of white crosses are striking—not just for their number, but for their precision and stillness. Walking through this place, you can't help but reflect on the scale of sacrifice.

Set on a bluff above the coast, the location adds to the atmosphere. It’s peaceful and beautifully maintained, but also carries a deep sense of loss and respect.
