Kapitelplatz in Salzburg is the kind of place you stumble upon while exploring the city. It serves as a central meeting point for those heading to the fortress, catching the funicular, or maybe visiting St. Peter's Cemetery. The square itself is quite spacious, and as you wander, you'll notice its surroundings – the Cathedral, the Cathedral provostry, and the archiepiscopal palace to the south, along with St. Peter's Monastery's novice's wing to the east. Venture west, and you'll stumble upon the Cathedral Chapter's mills. From Kapitelplatz, you can enjoy a spectacular view of Hohensalzburg, but there's more to discover. First, you'll come across a giant chessboard that often has people gathered around, strategizing and having a blast. Next, you'll encounter a captivating modern sculpture called "Sphaera" created by the German sculptor Stephan Balkenhol. It's a figure standing atop a golden sphere, and it's truly eye-catching. The sculpture exudes a calm, unassuming vibe, yet there's something special about it that compels you to snap a photo, especially with the castle as a backdrop. Lastly, there's Neptune's Fountain, dating all the way back to 1732. It's situated where old horse ponds used to be and radiates a grand, historical charm that only adds to the square's allure – Kapitelplatz, Salzburg, Austria.
