Timeless Charm in Ghent

On a sunny Sunday morning, I like to stroll through Ghent. Very often, my wanderings bring me to Beverhoutplein and Sint-Jacobs, where I mingle with lovers of trinkets who browse the second-hand and antique market. I do this not so much for the trinkets or to buy something, but because you often come across intriguing street scenes. I spotted this gentleman all dressed up in clothes from a bygone era. It's not the first time I've seen him, and I wonder what inspires him to dress like this. But hey, I like it. I actually wish people would dress up more often to go out.

For those interested, this neighborhood is the birthplace of the modern Gentse Feesten. The Sint-Jacobskerk is a stop on the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela.
