Vignette of Our Journey Through Keava Bog: Estonia's Hidden Wetlands

Our road trip through the Baltic States continued as we left Pärnu and headed towards Tallinn, with our first stop about halfway being the Kõnnumaa Nature Reserve. Here, we planned to hike through the Keava Bog, a unique wetland with its mix of peatlands, ponds, and forests. We were accompanied by a nature guide named Romet, who not only shared his extensive knowledge of the bog’s flora and fauna but also served us a delicious outdoor lunch halfway through our hike. Initially, we were a bit nervous about the snowshoe-like gear we had to wear, but it was the only way to avoid sinking into the wetland. We have to admit, it was challenging, but not as tough as walking through snow! – Keava, Estonia.
