Visiting Berlinde De Bruyckere’s Exhibition at Bozar

The day before yesterday, a friend invited me to visit Berlinde De Bruyckere’s exhibition "Khorós" at Bozar in Brussels. She’s undeniably one of Belgium’s most important contemporary artists, and her powerful, thought-provoking work is internationally renowned.

As luck would have it, she was actually there at the same time, followed by a TV crew, which made the experience even more interesting.

The exhibition brings together 25 years of her work, featuring large sculptures, installations, and delicate works on paper. Her art explores themes of vulnerability, suffering, and transformation, often drawing inspiration from Christian iconography, mythology, and Flemish masters.

That said, I found myself missing a bit of context to fully connect with the pieces. Her work has a strong emotional impact, but without a guide or at least an audio guide, some of the deeper meaning was hard to grasp.
