Where the Burren meets the Atlantic

At 53°4'5.472" N, 9°21'36.078" W, the limestone pavement of the Burren runs straight to the edge, breaking off into the sheer cliffs of Ailladie, or Ballyreen. To the north, waves crash against the rock below, spray rising from the raw power of the ocean. Turning southwest, the scene softens — rainwater pools in cracks across the limestone, while the Atlantic rolls in under a heavy sky and the coast fades toward Doolin. Stone, sea, and sky — the rugged edge of Ireland in all its moods.
