Toucan Barbet: A Splash of Color in the Cloud Forest

​I'm not a bird expert, but based on what I learned afterward, this colorful little character is a Toucan Barbet. It's not a toucan, but a unique bird found in the cloud forests of Ecuador and Colombia.

With its bright red chest, gray throat, bold black mask, and thick pale beak, it's one of those birds you can't miss once you spot it.
We encountered this one during a walk around Mashpi Lodge, where the rainforest seemed to burst with colors and sounds at every turn.

It stayed still just long enough for a photo — a rare chance to appreciate one of the cloud forest's more subtle visitors.

​Not Just a Hummingbird — An Empress

Thanks to some helpful advice, I learned this is an Empress Brilliant.

At first, I thought it might be a Velvet-purple Coronet. Still, after a closer look, especially at the shimmering green feathers and elegant shape, I realized it perfectly matched the Empress Brilliant. Cannot deny that I got some expert advice to come to this conclusion.
