13 January 2021: The sharp increase of number of people testing positive for SARS-CoV-2 continues. 2,070people tested positive for the coronavirus on average each day between 3 January and 9 January, a 30 percent rise on the week. The number of daily hospitalizations is still down on the week but also here we’re seeing a slowdown of the trend. Due to this worrying trend, the Belgian government agreed to extend the current measures against the spread of the coronavirus until 1 March. Belgium is not the only country that is extending the lockdown measures, also the Netherlands announced to extend the lockdown until 9 February.
