The daily press release on the COVID-19 epidemic in Belgium shows a continuation of the positive trend of the past few days. The number of patients being cared for in hospitals continues to fall as does the number of deaths from the virus: a further 23 deaths has been reported, 39 patients were admitted to hospital and 198 people tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Other news that got my attention was that the European Central Bank ruled out a rapid “V-shaped” economic recovery. On the brink of the worst recession since the Great Depression and exactly one year after the general elections Belgium’s politician are still tumbling over each other and are unable to put their differences aside to start making progress with the formation of a new government. Whilst we are bracing for a bumpy ride out of this crisis, I continue to document Ghent. Today’s picture is some industrial archeology outside the city center – Gardeniersweg, Ghent, Belgium

"Photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place. It has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with how you see them."

    About Me

I just like to take pictures, I just push the button. I never worked in the darkroom, I never studied photography or journalism; I’m just a passionate photographer.

For a long time I used to take pictures - like so many of us - to capture memories of family holidays and events. Over time I’ve found that experiences are deepened and one notices things more intensely by thinking visually. I came to enjoy the quality of light, amazing reflections, geometrical forms and colours. Ever since, I have been determined to take my skills to the next level. I also want to share my work with a much larger audience, because I truly believe that the only way to keep feeding one’s inspiration, creativity, and ultimately getting better at what one is passionate about, is to invite others to critique my work.
