29 March 2021: During the week from 19 to 25 March an average of 4,705 people tested positive forSARCoV-2, a rise of 21% on the figures for the previous week. There are currently 2,568 patients with COVID-19 in Belgian hospitals. Of these more than 701 are in intensive care. Clearly, the pressure on the intensive wards of the country’s hospitals is growing more and more intense. By Thursday 26March 1,201,488 people had been given their first dose of coronavirus vaccine. This is 13.1% of the adult population. In summary, the numbers don’t bode well… Luckily there is the occasional ice cream to cope with the frustration of the pandemic – Ghent, Belgium.
