Chasing Light at the Foot of Þórólfsfell: Southern Iceland's Volcanic Beauty

Seeking refuge from the rain in Southern Iceland, we journeyed along F250 until we reached the base of Þórólfsfell. This unique volcanic formation boasts a flat-topped summit and steep sides, a result of lava erupting through a thick glacier or ice sheet. Such formations are a global rarity, found only in regions where glaciers and volcanoes coexisted. As we arrived, the play of light on the landscape on the opposite landscape was simply mesmerizing.
