During our stay in Geilo, we embarked on a hiking adventure to conquer the summit of Prestholtskarvet. This peak is part of the Jotunheimen National Park, known for being Norway's largest national park and home to some of the country's highest peaks. The summit trip to Prestholtskarvet is a true national park classic, covering a distance of only 6,5 kilometers. However, it is labeled as "difficult" in all guides due to its very steep ascent. The journey to the summit indeed proved to be demanding, especially as we encountered heavy rain just 20 minutes into the hike, making the trail wet and misty. Nonetheless, we pressed on, guided by unique stone steps crafted in Nepalese tradition, leading us upward to an altitude of 1,859 meters. Upon reaching the summit, the rain had ceased, but we found ourselves engulfed by clouds, obscuring the breathtaking landscape beyond. As we enjoyed a simple picnic with cheese, salami, crispbread, and cherries, the clouds began to clear, unveiling the majestic scenery of Jotunheimen: towering mountains, grand glaciers, and serene valleys stretched out before us. The hike back was less challenging, providing an opportunity to take more pictures. Back in Geilo, we felt a sense of pride and accomplishment for conquering Prestholtskarvet – Presholtskarvet, Jotunheimen National Park, Norway
