Exploring Ålesund's Coastal Splendor

During our stay in Øye, we drove to Ålesund for a quick visit. We had read that the city was known for its Art Nouveau architecture, which stands out as our favorite among all architectural styles. It turned out that, in addition to its Art Nouveau architecture, Ålesund is surrounded by picturesque coastal landscapes and is in close proximity to beautiful fjords. In the early 20th century, Ålesund underwent a significant transformation after a devastating fire in 1904 that completely destroyed much of the city. It was then rebuilt in the Art Nouveau style, giving it a unique and charming architectural character. Since we only had a couple of hours there, I had not planned to take specific photographs and just captured some random shots of the city. It was only when we returned home and I started curating my pictures that I realized I hadn't taken any photographs showcasing what the city is renowned for: Art Nouveau architecture. Well, I guess that's a good excuse to go back. Nonetheless, I hope the other shots give you a glimpse of Ålesund – Ålesund, Møre og Romsdal county, Norway.
