Ghent Festival of Light 2024: A Luminous Adventure (Part 1)

​For two consecutive days, we immersed ourselves in the 6th edition of the triennial Ghent Festival of Light, an event that illuminated the city from February 1 to February 4, 2024. The luminous journey spanned just over seven kilometers, winding through the historic Old Town and along the Old Docks. Along this captivating path, we encountered 31 illuminated works of art. The city had anticipated around 800,000 visitors spread over three days. And yes, at times, the streets did feel dangerously overcrowded. This was particularly noticeable when narrow streets suddenly appeared, or when an installation was so captivating that it compelled people to stay for several minutes to fully experience its magic. Despite these moments, we consider the festival a success. Over the next few days, I'll be sharing some photographs I captured along the way – Ghent, Belgium
