I believe fjords are among the most dramatic and spectacular landscapes on the planet. The World Heritage Area, known as the West Norwegian Fjords, encompasses some of the longest, deepest, narrowest, and most beautiful fjords in the world. Many people consider fjords as the veritable symbol of Norway, making it the foremost nation of fjords globally. It is no mere coincidence that the Norwegian word "fjord" has become a part of the international vocabulary. The World Heritage Area comprises two sub-areas, Geirangerfjord and Nardufjord. Øye is an ideal place to explore the Geirangerfjord. While many travel guides suggest taking the ferry from Hellesylt to Geirangerfjord to experience its grandeur, we unfortunately discovered, after queuing in Hellesylt for a while, that one of the ferries was temporarily out of order. As a result, we had to wait until noon to catch the next boat. Ultimately, we decided to explore the fjord by car, which turned out to be an excellent decision as it allowed us to spend more time at various vantage points. A popular viewpoint to enjoy the Geirangerfjord is the Ørnesvingen viewpoint, located along the famous Geiranger-Trollstigen National Tourist Route. The name "Ørnesvingen" translates to "The Eagle Road" in English, appropriately named due to the shape of the road as it winds up the mountain, resembling the outstretched wings of an eagle. In this photograph, I captured the end of the fjord with the village of Geiranger in the distance, and I was lucky to have a huge cruise ship anchored in the little harbour, providing a perspective of the size of the mountains and fjord – Ørnesvingen, Geirangerfjord, Møre og Romsdal county, Norway.
