Monolith Majesty: Sculptural Wonders of Vigeland Sculpture Park

Upon arriving in Oslo, even before checking in to our hotel, we made a beeline for the Vigeland Sculpture Park within Frogner Park. A friend had tipped us off that this place was like the ultimate sculpture park, known worldwide for its magnificence. They named it after Norwegian sculptor Gustav Vigeland, and it's a treasure trove of sculptures showcasing every conceivable human emotion and life stage. The real star of the show? The Monolith. This is basically the heart of the park. As you can see in the photograph, it's a colossal column carved from a single gigantic granite block, shooting up about 14 meters into the sky. It's adorned with 121 human figures all intricately intertwined, narrating the story of life's journey, encompassing both highs and lows. Given our affinity for art deco, we were not only awestruck by the sculptures but even more so by the entrance gate – a genuine piece of art deco ironwork – Vigeland Sculpture Park, Frogner Park, Oslo, Norway
