Puddles of History in Mosjøen: Where Reflections Meet History and Nature

On our trip from Bodø to Trondheim along the E6 road, we made a stop in Mosjøen. While it may not be a major tourist spot by itself, we had heard that it was worth taking a break from the long drive to explore this lovely town. Mosjøen is situated by the serene Vefsnfjorden, which is a beautiful part of the larger Ranfjorden. The town offers stunning views with its mountains, forests, and waterways. Mosjøen has a rich history that dates back to the time of the Vikings. During the 19th century, it played an important role in trade and business due to its strategic location near the fjord. For our stay, we chose Fru Haugans Hotel, founded in 1794 and known as the oldest hotel in Northern Norway. In the morning, we took a leisurely walk along Sjøgata, a street brimming with history and captivating buildings. There are over 100 old buildings that have been converted into galleries, coffee shops, restaurants, and homes. In the past, they used to be warehouses, workshops, and boat sheds. Since it had rained the night before, little puddles on the street helped me compose a picture that, in my opinion, captured the essence of Mosjøen: the charming wooden houses of Sjøgata and the breathtaking scenery of the surrounding mountains – Mosjøen, Nordland County, Norway.
