Reynisfjara: Capturing Iceland's Rugged Beauty

Iceland experiences four distinct seasons, although its weather is famously unpredictable. The saying, 'if you don't like the weather, wait five minutes,' rings true for anyone who has visited. On the final day of our journey through the Highlands, we ventured closer to the coast, only to be met with heavy rain and strong winds. However, this adverse weather presented an opportunity to capture unique photographs of Reynisfjara beach.Reynisfjara is renowned for its black pebbles, basalt columns, and the offshore rock formations known as Reynisdrangar. These basalt sea stacks, situated beneath Reynisfjall mountain near Vik, are steeped in legend. According to local lore, they were once trolls attempting to drag a three-masted ship ashore but were turned to stone by daylight.Despite the challenging weather conditions, my goal was to document the beauty of the beach and its natural formations in black and white - Víkurfjara beach, Vik, Iceland.
