I think fjords are among the most dramatic and spectacular landscapes on the planet. The World Heritage Area, known as the West Norwegian Fjords, encompasses some of the longest, deepest, narrowest, and most beautiful fjords in the world. Many people consider the fjords the veritable symbol of Norway, making it the foremost nation of fjords globally. It is no mere coincidence that the Norwegian word "fjord" has become a part of the international vocabulary. The World Heritage Area comprises two sub-areas, Geirangerfjord and Nardufjord. Øye is an ideal place to explore the Geirangerfjord. Many travel guides will suggest that to experience the grandeur of Geirangerfjord, the best option is to take the ferry from Hellesylt to Geirangerfjord.Unfortunately, it was only after we had been queuing in Hellesylt for a while that we discovered one of the ferries was temporarily out of order, and we had to wait until noon to catch the next boat. Eventually, we decided to explore the fjord by car, which turned out to be an excellent decision. It allowed us to spend more time at various vantage points. One such viewpoint is Ljoen, offering a stunning close-up view of the fjord. Situated directly opposite the branch where Geirangerfjord separates from Sunnylvsfjorden, Ljoen provides an exceptional perspective of the fjord's breathtaking mountainous scenery. I took one picture late in the morning when we started our tour, but the light conditions were sub-optimal. However, in my opinion, the second picture taken when we returned late afternoon had significantly better lighting – Ljoen, Geirangerfjord, Møre og Romsdal county, Norway.
