Swift and Graceful: The Sloughis of the Arabian Desert

In addition to falcons, there's another animal renowned for its speed, agility, and hunting prowess in the deserts of the Arabian Peninsula – the Sloughi. These slender dogs originally hail from North Africa but are also found in the UAE. Sloughis are famous for their ability to sprint at incredible speeds, reaching around 70 kilometers per hour, and maintain this pace over long distances. I captured this photo one early morning during my stay at a resort in the Liwa Desert in Abu Dhabi. Our guide introduced us to these dogs and had them chase after prey. Everything happened very quickly, and I had to take a series of shots, hoping that at least one of them would be sharp. Surprisingly, I quite like the result. The dog stand out in this field with various shades of reddish ocher. To me, it's an example of negative space and simplicity, featuring a very special and interesting subject – Qasr al Sarab Resort in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
