The Perito Moreno Glacier is a natural wonder located in the Los Glaciares National Park in southern Argentina. It is part of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, one of the largest ice fields in the world outside of Antarctica and Greenland. The Perito Moreno is as much an auditory as a visual experience when huge icebergs calve and collapse into the Canal de los Témpanos (Iceberg Channel). The glacier is approximately 30 km long and 5 km wide, with some ice walls rising up to 80 m high and is one of the few glaciers in the world that is still advancing, rather than receding. Due to the world’s recent climate shifts the precipitation in the region has increased. This in combination with the strong and cold Patagonian winds has reinforced the glacier. In a nutshell this natural wonder is a must-see destination for anyone interested in the natural world – Los Glaciares National Park, Santa Cruz Province, Patagonia, Argentina.
