Visitor’s Digest is my daily photo column. Sometimes it's one picture, other times a set — always with short notes about place, light, timing, or a personal detail. It’s my way of documenting the world around me, from city streets to coastal towns, in a simple and reflective way.

The Splendid Beauty of Antwerp Centraal Station

Every time I arrive at Antwerp Centraal, I'm blown away by its sheer beauty. It's no wonder that this station has been recognized by reputable magazines like The Telegraph and Newsweek as one of the most stunning train stations in the world. From the moment you step inside, you feel like you're walking into a grand palace dedicated to trains. The luxurious decoration of the station is simply breathtaking, with more than 20 different kinds of marble and stone used in its construction. As you enter the main hall, your eyes are immediately drawn to the vast space and splendidly proportioned dome hovering above you. It's impossible not to feel awed by the grandeur of the architecture. What's interesting is that the station is made up of two separate structures: a stone building and a steel platform canopy, both designed by different architects. The canopy, which was designed by Clément Van Bogaert, is a massive structure that measures 43 meters high, 186 meters long, and 66 meters wide. The stone building, on the other hand, was built between 1899 and 1905 by Louis Delacenserie and was inspired by the Pantheon in Rome. All in all, whether you're arriving by train or not, you have to see this station! It's definitely worth a visit just to experience the beauty and grandeur of this architectural masterpiece – Antwerp-Centraal, Antwerp, Belgium.
