Zuidas is Amsterdam's prime business location, an urban hub with international allure. It’s also the place that is crawling with yuppies… Yuppism is not entirely defined by income or class, it’s a phenomenon of self-absorbed young professionals earning a good pay, enjoying the sophisticated urban life and generally out of touch with most of the challenges and concerns of far less well-off people. They work for a bank that is now partially owned by the Dutch taxpayer, drive a BMW, Porsche, 4X4 or a bakfiets, participate at bootcamps or play hockey and are usualy heavily in debt. I’ve been living in and traveling to the USA for decades… And, the more I travel in the US the more I realize just how much of it there is to see. I still haven't been to Yellowstone or Yosemite or some of the smaller states. I have only seen a tiny slice of Texas, and have a huge amount of the Midwest left to explore. And then there are the places I always want to go back to — places like the Bay Area, Chicago and New England. Even though I have SO MUCH more to see, here are some of the highlights from my US travel.
"Photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place. It has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with how you see them."
I just like to take pictures, I just push the button. I never worked in the darkroom, I never studied photography or journalism; I’m just a passionate photographer.
