Tranquil Ume River After a Vibrant Night

Umeå, the largest city in northern Sweden with a population of just over 80,000, serves as the capital of Västerbotten County. Nestled along the picturesque Ume River, this city boasts a remarkable natural setting, surrounded by forests and lakes, making it an ideal destination for various outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, and winter skiing adventures. During our stay at the downtown Clarion Hotel, we experienced the vibrant energy of Umeå, particularly on July 8th when "Wheels Cruising Umea 2023" kicked off. This high-octane event featured vintage cars roaring through the city center, adding excitement to the atmosphere. However, the never-setting sun of this northern region also brought some late-night noise, with "boom cars" playing amplified music at volumes that exceeded the limits, as indicated by our iPhone noise alert. Unfortunately, one of these vehicles decided to park right under our hotel room, leading to a sleepless night. The following day, it was as if nothing had happened, and Umeå had returned to its tranquil self.
